Day 3: Goodbye is an understatement

Day 3: Goodbye is an understatement

Today was our last day to pay a visit to the house full of angelic people. We had so much fun on that day, yet, we were sorrow due to the fact that we will not see them anymore. But we made our last day the most memorable and unforgettable day that they ever experienced, hence we made the most out of it, eh?

Activity 1: A, B, C is as simple as Do, Re, Mi

We started the day with practical activity, learning the Alphabet! We were stunned by their enthusiast on this activity. Each of us helps them to write and pronounce the alphabet, with examples on it. It was such a fun activity to start with. Some of them were very fast at learning new things. Although very few of them understand and able to write in the English Alphabet, we agreed that this activity engaged us even further with them. Hopefully, this activity not only they were fun to do, but useful for them in the future, and can help them to develop themselves.

Activity 2: Appreciation Card full of glitter

Next, on the list, we made the most glitter gratitude card that any person could ever imagine. They were excited when they saw all of those colorful papers, markers, and stickers spread on the table. We guided them to create their personalize gratitude card with their name on it, and a sweet little message inside. They cannot get enough with the stickers! It was the ultimate bonding session we did with them, and we glad they enjoyed it. Some of us were also unexpectedly very good at creating a gratitude card, not to mention, these people took a very good look at the detail. Amazed! These kids gratitude cards were very unique and creative. They even put some of our name on it and gave it to us. We were awed by them, we couldn’t love them any better.

Activity 3: Sandwich anyone?

On today’s menu for 'Quali-tea' time, we had an egg sandwich covered with creamy mayonnaise and fluffy bread. Here’s how we made them. We boiled some eggs, mashed them and combined them with a spoonful of mayonnaise and a touch of salt and pepper. We cut the bread from the crust (because no one likes their bread with crust, right?) and fill the bread with a generous amount of our egg-mayo filling, lastly, we cut them into triangle shapes and voila! Our egg-mayo sandwich is done. They loved our egg-sandwich, some even took 3-4 slices of bread. The happiness and smiles they showed when they eat our sandwich were beyond this world. We were as happy as they are when they loved our sandwiches. A happy tummy, a happy mind, right? Just as they thought we would stop there for today’s quali-tea time, we spoiled them with our homemade orange popsicle. It was super refreshing, a touch of sourness we got from the asam boi, was the perfect combo.

Activity 4: Let’s color the future together!

Coloring is what makes them happy. And so, we did, we made them happy, by having this coloring session with them. They had this big container box only filled with color pencils, how cool is that? Choosing a color is not a problem for them anymore, for us, maybe, but not them. Some drawing turns out to be very unique at the end. They even let us colored their drawings, which was very cute of them. We had a very blissful moment! Here are few snaps of them coloring their drawings. Oh and one more thing, we got a special visit from our lecturer, Dr. Ong in the middle of this activity. She was amazed by the kids, and of course, us hahaha.

Activity 5: Prepare your picture-ready face

Since this is our last day with them, we must take a decent photo of all of us together. Let’s gather in the center and wear your best smile. This photo will be forever in our heart together, we will remember their faces, their laughs, and their kindness. Everyone ready? 1, 2, 3 say cheese!

Activity 6: Leave the floor squeaky clean

To wrap it all out, we end the day by mopping the floor, stack up the chairs against the wall and leave the place spotless. It was getting easier for us, as we have done it several times already. We cleaned up and made sure everything is at the right place, only under than 15 minutes!

Closing 😊😊

These 3 days had been so meaningful to us and to the society. We will always remember what we see, heard and learnt from them.  These children are "Angels with Broken Wings", they are able to fly gracefully as well if they are given enough love and patience. Their existences today serve as a reminder to us who are physically and mentally fit about the value of life.
